Your Gateway to the Tunnels
|
|
|
 |
|
Visitors to the cozy village of Norwalk just might
find themselves experiencing a unique case history of "tunnel
vision."
Norwalk, which is located on Highway 71, is only
three miles southeast of the longest tunnel on the
Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail. Venturing into the tunnel will
ensure a nearly 3/4 mile walk in the dark, so be sure to bring
your flashlight and your sense of adventure! Traveling
southeast of the village on the trail brings you to tunnel
number two, which is 1,680 feet in length. Convenient, clean
and comfortable, Norwalk is the perfect place to take a break
between the tunnels.

The Village Park is one great place to
stop and relax after an invigorating ride or hike on the trail. The
local Lions Club has made an extra effort to spruce up the area, providing
picnic tables, clean restrooms, showers, and shaded areas for those needing
a rest from the day's recreation. |

The park also houses shelters, fireplaces
and a food stand that serves up summer favorites. The park offers
camping for those who would like to spend the night and a flood control dam,
just north of Norwalk, provides additional recreation. Whatever the
reason, whatever the season, be sure to stop by friendly Norwalk - Your
gateway to the tunnels! |
